Jeff Risinger Awarded Physician Coaching Institute’s Prestigious PCI Fellow Designation
The Physician Coaching Institute (PCI) is delighted to announce that Jeff Risinger, PCC, has been awarded the PCI Fellow designation. This honor recognizes PCI gradates of our Certified Physician Development Coach™ program who have made notable contributions to the field of physician and healthcare coaching and who demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering the growth, development, and well-being of physician leaders.
Jeff earned his Master Certified Physician Development Coach certification from PCI in 2016 and recently achieved his Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential through the International Coaching Federation in May 2024. His extensive professional training includes programs at Georgetown’s Leadership and Executive Coaching program, as well as specialized study in neuroscience and leadership coaching, totaling close to 200 hours of formal coach-specific education.
To be selected for the PCI Fellow designation, recipients must hold an advanced coaching credential and show clear impact in advancing physician coaching as a professional field.
“Jeff truly embodies the qualities we look for in a PCI Fellow — creativity, dedication, and a commitment to strengthening healthcare leadership,” said Dr. Francine Gaillour, Executive Director of the Physician Coaching Institute. “His innovative work continues to influence both individual physician leaders and healthcare organizational culture.”
Over the course of his coaching career, Jeff has accumulated approximately 2,000 hours of coaching experience, with a strong emphasis on leadership and executive coaching, values-based development, emotional intelligence, and coaching healthcare professionals. One of Jeff’s standout contributions is his creative adaptation of strategy management tools — such as the balanced scorecard and strategy map — into personalized leadership strategy processes. This method, combined with emotional intelligence 360 assessments and research into what people most value in great leadership, has brought fresh energy and measurable impact to his coaching engagements.
In a recent talk, Jeff captured his philosophy on leadership brilliantly: “[As leaders], You have the incredible privilege of guiding and energizing human performance. Leadership is an art. And your work as a leader is like that of a Broadway director.” He also emphasized, “The people I lead are watching everything that I do, and what they want to know is: do I care about them? And can they trust me?”
Jeff has also focused on building coaching capacity inside healthcare organizations. At three separate health systems, he successfully established internal coaching teams and communities of practice, helping organizations deliver coaching at scale in financially sustainable ways.
Looking ahead, Jeff is dedicated to deepening his coaching expertise. “Coaching is the most fulfilling and meaningful part of my work as a senior executive — it’s truly my calling,” Jeff shared.
At the heart of all his work is a core belief about leadership that he returns to time and again. Above all, Jeff’s guiding principle resonates with profound simplicity: “Treat the people you lead like the people you love.”
The PCI team is proud to honor Jeff Risinger’s significant contributions and looks forward to his continued leadership in advancing physician and healthcare coaching.
