Helped me to identify the common struggles and stressors that physicians encounter most in a career

I knew that I wanted to be of service to other physicians who were going through the same transitions I experienced in my career. I wasn’t sure about how to best serve those who were most like me, and I feel that the PCI program helped me to identify the common struggles and stressors that professionals tend to encounter most in a career.
After completing the program, I can tailor my coaching pathways for self-determined goals and outcomes that are desired by the physician client. Clients tend to see an improvement in both their professional careers and personal lives with coaching interventions. With much internal reflection about myself as a physician during the program, I learned so many things about why coaching should be a fundamental tool used in the infancy of a career to improve the life of every physician.

Combination of didactic learning, peer coaching…and one on one

The Physician Coaching Institute’s physician developmental coaching certification program exceeded my high expectations. The combination of didactic learning, peer coaching cohort activities, and one on one sessions with Francine Gaillour allowed me to become a confident physician coach and both develop and have approved an internal coaching program for my health system.

Specifically, the peer coaching cohorts provided a safe space for me develop coaching skills and receive excellent personal developmental physician coaching from my peers which was an unexpected benefit of the program. Sessions with Francine provided for personalized developmental growth and guidance as I launched my internal coaching program. I highly recommend the certification program for those seeking to be physician coaches.

Provided structure around coaching, tools and methods for busy healthcare providers

Prior to starting Physician Coaching Institute, I had completed the required certification hours for coaching, but had done some coaching at my organization. I wanted to expand my offering to the physicians and other healthcare providers so I joined Physician Coaching Institute. It not only provided more insight to the world of physicians, it also provided structure around coaching, tools and methods that work for the busy healthcare providers. I highly recommend this program if you want to learn more about coaching physicians and healthcare providers.

Now able to expand my career as a Physician Coach

Before I enrolled in the Physician Coaching Institute, I had a desire to be of service, but lacked the confidence and knowledge about coaching in health care organizations.

After completing the PCI training program, I am now able to expand my career as a consultant Nephrologist and a Physician Coach, and have delivered Personal growth coaching series programs to physicians and other medical staff.

Better able to facilitate self realization and awareness

Prior to starting this coaching course with Physician Coaching Institute, I thought by fixing things for others, I was helping them. During this course, I learned that the problem isn’t as important as the person with the problem. Through the informative, complete and intensive PCI training program, I have become a better and more engaged listener and better able to facilitate self realization and awareness in a coachee/client. I can’t recommend PCI highly enough.

I coach with much greater presence

Before I completed the Certified Physician Coach Development Program, my approach to coaching doctors was rather ad hoc, focusing heavily on each session and limited in scope. After completing the program, I feel like I coach with much greater expansivity and presence. I have learnt to apply a carefully considered and structured approach to every aspect of my coaching, from coaching program development right through to an articulated coaching philosophy. Collectively the cohort, along with course facilitators Francine and Amorah, stretched and supported me at every step. I’m grateful to have built an amazing network of like-minded friends and continue to draw on their strength and wisdom. I would absolutely recommend this program to any aspiring physician coaches.

Allowed me to coach physician clients to manage the added stress of [legal] situations

Before PCI training, I spent years providing legal representation to physicians in medical malpractice lawsuits and in disciplinary actions against their licenses. PCI has taught me new skills for better listening and assessment to allow me to coach physician clients to manage the added stress of these situations as they simultaneously continue with their busy practices. I also made new peer coaching colleagues through the international program and my world is bigger and brighter thanks to PCI! My deepest gratitude to Dr. Francine Gallour and to all of the magnificent instructors and support staff at PCI!

Forever grateful, improved my physician coaching skills

Francine and her team at PCI have changed my life. From my first enquiry regarding the Coaching fundamentals to the final Capstone sessions of the Certified Physician Development course I have experienced nothing but kindness, personal support and benefited from the best adult learning I have ever experienced. The course participants are carefully matched to be like minded and yet represent a broad range of backgrounds within Medicine from across Canada and the USA.
The materials are outstanding, well curated and accurate with a close attention to detail. Every session was fun, informative and ran on time. The content was fascinating with additional enrichment resources on the Cohort website and within the comprehensive manual. The cohort provided in depth coaching opportunities as both Coach and Coachee with scheduled sessions with world class coaches Francine, BJ and Amorah. This course sets you up for success from both the Academic and business perspective and comes from a place of real life experience. The friendships made on the course are genuine and based on a willingness to share and engage in the learning process. Thank you so much Francine for allowing me to be part of the PCI family.

Department burnout scores were lower than previous year

We found out …. that the department Burnout Scores were 46% lower (raw data) than they had been last year.
The Medical Director credits the Department Coaching as one of the main reasons for the decrease in the burnout scores!!!
She said she has seen behavioral changes and also because many of the staff cited the Coaching Program as the reason that they were less burned out!! Thanks for all your great teaching and coaching. And thanks for your extra effort during the initial outbreak of COVID.

Forever grateful for the inspiration …. resulted in my model of leadership

I am forever grateful to the Physician Coaching Institute for the inspiration you provided to me that resulted in my model of Leadership Fitness back in 2008.  I have trained 5,000 leaders in my model since then.

Using new insights to move clients more easily toward their desired outcome

Before I enrolled in the Physician Coaching Institute, I found that although I excelled at establishing trust and being fully present, I lacked higher level tools and powerful questions to create deeper awareness for the client to achieve transformational growth.

After completing the PCI training program, I am much more confident at asking questions that evoke greater awareness and am able to use these new insights to move clients more easily toward their desired outcome.
