Coach training programs

The Physician Coaching Institute developed the first of its kind specialized coach training program for professionals who want to develop their expertise in working with physicians, clinicians and the healthcare team.  Currently we offer three training programs.  Our mastery-level program is the Certified Physician Development Coach™, a 6-month comprehensive training that has developed expert coaches since 2005. Participants entering this program must have already completed at least 15 hours of foundational-level coach training, either from us or from another ICF-approved school.

Your coach training pathway can begin by completing either of our Peer Coaching foundation courses:  The Healthcare Peer Coaching Fundamentals™ is open to the public and provides foundational coaching skills to individual healthcare team members; it also prepares them to enter the advanced-level Certified Physician Development Coach™ training.  The Certified Healthcare Peer Coach™ training is for a group of leaders within the same health system; the training equips them with coaching skills and emotional intelligence competencies to lead a culture of coaching. This training also prepares those who want to continue on with coach training to enter our mastery-level Certified Physician Development Coach™ training.

The Physician Coaching Institute is Accredited by the International Coach Federation. Learn more about earning an ICF Coaching Credential.
