Expert Overview

I work with early career and experienced physicians to become more intentional and conscious leaders in their careers, personal lives and their community. Using a collaborative approach I support emerging and seasoned leaders to reach heightened levels of individual and organizational success by skillfully blending self-examination and capability enhancement.

Client and Business Focus

My work with physicians is diverse, ranging from leadership coaching to career transitions to developing leadership development programs and group facilitation. The common theme in this work is empowering physicians to develop leadership skills so they can lead with competence and confidence. I help physicians sharpen business skills and support them in managing common issues such as meeting facilitation, giving feedback, having crucial conversations, presentation skills, and communication. For those considering career transitions, we partner in evaluating job choices, creating powerful resumes and LinkedIn profiles, and honing interviewing skills. Enhancing emotional intelligence and deploying self-regulation and resiliency strategies to achieve greater work-life integration are central to our work together.

Education

I hold bachelor’s degrees in science and in Business Administration from the University of Manitoba in Canada and a Masters in Health Sciences from the University of Toronto. I received a professional coaching designation (PCC) from the International Coach Federation, am a certified mediator and a Certified Physician Development Coach. A lifelong learner, I have augmented my coaching skills with studies in neuro-leadership and positive psychology. In 2017, I was selected to become a member of Forbes Coaches Council. I am an administrator for the Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) and Change Style Indicator and certified in the Center for Creative Leadership’s 360-degree tools. I am a published author and an experienced facilitator for team retreats and process improvement projects.

Experience

Formerly a healthcare executive in human resources and organizational development I understand the intricacies of complex and highly regulated organizations. I have a proven track record of transforming cultures within challenging environments, re-engineering systems, and designing shared leadership models. In working closely with C suite leaders and physicians throughout my career I have gained a reputation of trusted coach and advisor. In 2013, I transitioned to a career as a coach and leadership consultant, receiving my training from the internationally recognized coaching school, the Newfield Network. I teach at the post-graduate level at the University of Denver and volunteer on the board of Earthlinks, non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness.
