Background & Experience:

Helane has been a practicing physician since 1982, initially in general internal medicine and then as a specialist in the emerging field of phlebology, the treatment of venous disorders. During this time, she and her physician husband raised two children who are now thriving in their lives, so she knows the struggles and competing goals of physician parents. Helane was an employee in a large multispecialty group where she was the Director of the Varicose Vein Clinic, and opearated her own solo practice. Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Phlebology, she supported her medical societies by serving on numerous boards of directors, as President of the American College of Phlebology, and Chair of education, leadership, and fundraising committees. For her contributions and achievements, she was elected to Fellowship in both the American College of Physicians and American College of Phlebology and was the first recipient of the American College of Phlebology’s Leadership Award. Helane is an internationally recognized speaker whose ability to clearly explain difficult subjects and enthusiasm for her work continue to inspire and enlighten her audiences. In addition to her work with individual physicians, Helane is also passionate about improving physician communication and provides in-house consultation and dynamic seminars for physician groups.
