Expert Overview

My clients are physicians transitioning to new leadership positions or higher levels of responsibility. They realize their continuing success will require a transformation. Toward that end, we work together to identify and implement critical success strategies.

Client and Business Focus:

My clients are typically physicians who are transitioning into leadership roles. Their current moves may be into new leadership positions or transitions with higher responsibility. They may be struggling with leadership dilemmas, or caught up in the turmoil caused by significant structural changes in their organizations. My clients seek my guidance when they realize their continuing success will require not just changing, but transforming, the way they approach their personal and professional lives. Together we work on identifying critical success strategies. I guide them by keeping their focus on strategic thinking and the big picture, and working on goals for achieving success and greater impact. At the same time, I keep them grounded in their values and intentions, and make them ever mindful of maintaining the basics that will keep them healthy and sane in their fast-paced worlds.

Background and Experience:

During my diverse leadership career in health care and related fields, I was always the “go-to” person—a guide when people needed objective, non-judgmental insight from someone who genuinely cared. I often counseled managers and other employees on creating impact, communicating effectively, developing alliances, achieving life balance and making choices. It began to dawn on me that my personal strengths could be best put to use in these types of interactions. The natural transformation for me was to a formal coaching practice. In this role I have helped enhance the lives and careers of physician executives, healthcare administrators and senior managers.

Education and Credentials:

I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and a Certified Physician Development Coach. I am qualified to administer and interpret the Myers Briggs (MBTI) personality indicator and various 360-degree feedback assessments. I hold a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. I am a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF)—an organization that establishes industry standards to ensure the highest level of professionalism in coaching. I also am a member of the Professional Coaches and Mentoring Association and previously the Institute of Management Consultants.
