Dr. Judith Holder is the executive director of Uniquely U Pathways: Inspiring You to Be Your Best, an executive, leadership and life coaching and consulting service for physicians, healthcare professionals and corporate executives. She is versed in change management, leadership development, communication dynamics, and in the competing stressors confronting corporate and medical cultures and workforces. Judith’s passion is to empower leaders, teams and organizations to maximize their potential. She uses her clinical and coaching skills to collaborate with leaders and managers in the people skills needed to lead effectively, and the psychosocial factors impacting employee sub-optimal performance and well-being.

In addition, Dr. Holder works with leaders who are in transition, such as succession planning, pre-retirement contemplation, anticipated or unexpected career and lifestyle changes. Surveying the “transition” terrain and starting-off in the right direction, and then, maintaining a steady pace in a new-life-course or post-career journey is critical to engagement and enjoyment, especially in the third half of the professional’s life.

Background and Experience:

Dr. Holder is the founder and executive director of Uniquely U Pathways: Coaching and Consulting Services, PLLC in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Additionally, she is the director and senior psychologist at the Duke Professional and Personal Development Program (Duke PPDP) and Duke Employee Assistance Program (Duke EAP) in Durham, NC. Dr. Holder’s rich background as a consultant, trainer, executive, leadership and personal development coach, as well as retreat/meeting facilitator, administrator and psychologist, has positioned her well to empower individuals, teams and organizations in North Carolina and across the country.

Judith is an Assistant Professor with joint faculty appointments in the departments of Psychiatry/Behavioral Sciences and Community and Family Medicine at Duke University Medical Center since 1995. She provides interactive lectures and workshops on leadership enrichment topics; personal risk and resilience; conflict resolution, energy/time management; effective communication; team/ interdisciplinary team dynamics; career planning and professional transitions for the Duke School of Medicine Master’s degree program in Clinical Leadership and in the Duke Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency Program. She is an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Public Health Nursing Program in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Education and Credentials:

Dr. Holder received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in stress management from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and a master’s degree in Systems Dynamics (Marriage and Family Therapy and Community Development-Prevention) from the University of Maryland-College Park. As a former American Psychological Association and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health fellow, Judith is one of the few psychologists’ clinically trained as an Occupational Health Psychologist in the United States.

Judith has specialized training in personal, professional, executive, leadership, healthcare and business coaching from UNC Charlotte Business Coaching Program ™, MentorCoach™, CoachU™, Masterful CoachingTM, and the Physician Leadership Institute™ Advanced Certificate Program.
